The nursing care should be guided by a set of social, political and ethical practices. When referring to this last one, workers in this category have the Ethics Code of Nursing Professionals, as a guiding axis for them to provide qualified and safe care to humans. In this perspective, the aim is to report an experience lived by the scholarship holders of the Nursing Tutorial Education Program of the Federal University of Goiás - Jatai Regional in the implementation of an educational activity, using the active methodology, about the ethical foundations of nursing professionals. This is a descriptive study, experience report type, which discusses about the extension project entitled “Court of Ethics: Strategies for the Empowerment of the Nursing Team,” which adopted the use of the active methodology as a didactic resource for the critical and reflexive development of the participants. The project was developed between October and December 2018. The activity was attended by 30 participants, including: students of technical course and superior education and nursing professionals who worked in public and/or private institutions of the city under study. In the process of developing of the educational intervention, the active participation of the presents was observed, and it was noticeable that the discussion of ethical precepts from situations based on real facts favored the involvement of group members with verbalizations and experiences exchange and reflections of cases presented and/or analyzed, which allowed a deepening of the studied theme. The extensionist experience evidenced the necessity of reviewing the students' formation, regarding ethical principles and the inevitability of the use of the active methodology, in order to significantly promote teaching and learning, as well as the importance of developing extension projects facing nursing professionals.
