Adolescents with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis endure a complex therapy that provides significant changes in their biopsychosocial scope, and adherence to treatment is one of the main axes of health care to ensure quality of life in this population. This study aimed to describe the perceived aspects of the experience imposed by the disease, as well as its correlation with treatment adherence. It was a descriptive and exploratory study with a qualitative approach. Data were collected in two dialysis units between February and June 2017 through document analysis and interviews. The method of Content Analysis was employed, with the aid of ATLAS Software. ti (Analysis of Qualitative Data) 7.5.1 for the construction of semantic networks. The sample included 7 adolescents, 7 family members and 15 professionals. It was found that the context is permeated by unfavorable socioeconomic conditions, fragile support network, school exclusion, social isolation, pain and suffering, perceived as vulnerabilities for adherence to treatment. On the other hand, the exchange of experiences and the identification of individual needs signaled to contribute to enhance adherence to therapy by adolescents.
