Urban street fairs: what does research say about the phenomenon in Brazil?

Abstract

The objective of this article is to identify the scientific productions, elaborated in Brazil, on urban street fairs as a context for the development of doctoral research linked to these fairs and the resistance movements for the permanence of this social practice, producer of popular education, knowledge, culture, and values relevant to life in society. The method used combined the Integrative Review and Bibliometrics, in which the objectives, methodologies, and results presented in the research were analyzed. The results point to a diversity of areas interested in the phenomenon, and, in conclusion, the free fair is perceived as a pluricultural universe from which popular education, culture, and resistance emerge.
